NET Announces Gubernatorial Debate
LINCOLN, Neb. (Aug. 5, 2014) -- Nebraska gubernatorial candidates Pete Ricketts (R) and Chuck Hassebrook (D) will meet in October for a debate sponsored by NET News and the Nebraska Broadcasters Association. The debate will take place on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. CT in the NET studios in Lincoln. It will be broadcast live on NET Television’s NET1, NET Radio and streamed live on the NET website.
The 60-minute debate will be moderated by NET News Director Dennis Kellogg and feature a panel of Nebraska journalists asking questions of the candidates. In addition to the reporters’ questions, each candidate will have the opportunity to ask a question of the other candidate.
“This gubernatorial debate continues a long history of election coverage by NET News,” said Mark Leonard, NET CEO and general manager. “We’re excited to contribute to the civic health of our state by giving our viewers and listeners across Nebraska the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates on the issues before they cast their votes.”
The debate is part of NET News’ ongoing “Campaign Connection 2014” election coverage, including in-depth “Signature Stories” on NET Radio reporting on the campaigns, candidates and issues, as well as election resources available online at netNebraska.org/campaignconnection2014.
