About this event
A panel conversation with Madama Butterfly Artists and Community Partner Inclusive Communities. In opera, the canonical body of work was written within the context of its time, often over 100 years ago, these works mirror the ideas, power structures, attitudes and notions of what was appropriate for the times. In our time, these characters require of the artist the portrayal of ideas that have become archaic. How does an artist respond to these tropes and the legacy of stereotypes and how does the artist see their identity in the context of the opera world? Bring you lunch and join us for the conversation addressing these and other questions. In recognition of World Opera Day | Presented in partnership with Inclusive Communities
