About this event
Outlook Nebraska will host special guest speaker Dr. Sharon Sacks, superintendent for the California School of the Blind, on Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. She will share a message aimed at helping people who are blind or visually impaired learn about social engagement in a sighted world, using examples of her journey to acceptance of her own vision loss. The event is free and open to the public. Dr. Sacks’ blindness was caused by retinopathy of prematurity (premature birth), and she later developed acute angle glaucoma. A published author and educator, she will speak on the topics of managing blindness issues, understanding and accepting vision loss and handling frustration with a focus on social norms and cues.
