About this event
The STAGE Theater proudly presents BRIGHT STAR! Inspired by true events and featuring a Grammy-nominated score, BRIGHT STAR tells the sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ‘40s Blue Ridge Mountains. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past - and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. The story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion, beautiful melodies and powerful storytelling. With book by Steve Martin, lyrics by Edie Brickell and Music by Edie Brickell & Steve Martin, BRIGHT STAR is directed by Robert Wamsley, with assistant direction by Emmy Lou Harris, music direction by Kristen Works, choreography by Jen Schultz and features a talented cast: Amelia Barrett (as Alice Murphy), Jared Flodman (as Billy Cane), Paul Eschliman (as Daddy Cane), Claire Wilkinson (as Margo Crawford), Dillon Holsteen (as Max), Chloe Schwarting (as Florence), Soren Tobey (as Edna), Christian Cardona (as Daryl Ames), Natalie Nuckolls (as Lucy Grant), Michael J.
