About this event
Collaborative Screening Presented with design alliance OMAha. Directed by Gary Hustwit (Helvetica, Objectified, Urbanized), Rams is a documentary portrait of Dieter Rams, one of the most influential designers alive, and a rumination on consumerism, sustainability, and the future of design. The objects Dieter designed at Braun and Vitsoe have touched the lives of millions of people β€” think of iconic Braun coffeemakers, shavers, stereos, calculators, speakers, and alarm clocks β€” and his trailblazing work laid the foundation for the design of consumer electronics, like smart phones and tablets, that are now a ubiquitous accessory to life. Poster giveaway Rams is also revered for his β€œTen Principles for Good Design,” a list of edicts that champion simplicity, honesty, and restraint. The first fifty Rams attendees who pre-purchase tickets online will receive a poster illustrating those principles designed by daOMA Board Member Justin Kemerling.
