About this event
Collaborative Screening Tue Dec 3, 7 pm | Ruth Sokolof Presented in collaboration with the ACLU of Nebraska, Anti-Defamation League, Immigrant Legal Center, Institute for Cultural Connections at MCC, Lutheran Family Services, and Refugee Empowerment Center. The post-film discussion will include representatives from partnering organizations as well as refugee activists from Afganistan. The conversation will be moderated by Lacey Studnicka (Lutheran Family Services). The event precedes a full run starting Dec 6. When the Taliban puts a bounty on Afghan director Hassan Fazili’s head, he is forced to flee the country with his wife and two young daughters. Capturing the family’s uncertain journey firsthand, Fazili documents their harrowing trek across numerous borders revealing the danger and uncertainty facing refugees seeking asylum juxtaposed with the unbreakable love shared amongst the family on the run. — Oscilloscope Laboratories
