First Match tells the story of a teenage girl from Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood who decides to join the boys wrestling team in order to reconnect with her estranged father, recently released from prison. Developed at the Sundance Directors and Screenwriters lab, First Match was written and directed by Olivia Newman and stars newcomer Elvire Emanuelle, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down, The Greatest Showman), Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead) and Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight). Free, Filmmaker Screening Presented with Girls Inc. Join Film Streams and Girls Inc. for this special screening and post-show Q&A with producer and Omaha native, Chanelle Elaine. Free tickets are limited to two per patron. Please note: Reserved tickets must be claimed or presented (for print-at-home tickets) by 1:45pm on the day of the event to guarantee admission. Unclaimed tickets will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to patrons on our wait-list. Visiting Artist Chanelle Elaine is a social impact producer, working in community with filmmakers, activists and philanthropists in advancing the global initiative of equality for girls and women everywhere. Founder of CreativeBionics, Chanelle Elaine's first feature, First Match, is a Netflix Original and winner of the SXSW Audience and LUNA Gamechanger awards.
