About this event
Description:
Film Streams and Opera Omaha present CINEsound (Mar 29 - Apr 14), an operatic film series in conjunction with ONE Festival — Opera Omaha’s multi-week, multi-venue festival with an emphasis on experimentation. 1. Midnight Movies: ONE Festival and CINEsound will kick off with a midnight screening of a rare 35mm print of Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession. 2. Courses: Deep Dive: Learn how film sound is created and examine the ways it enriches the movie-watching experience in a Courses: Deep Dive called “Music and the Moving Image,” facilitated by Karre and Film Streams Education Director Diana Martinez, PhD. In the second half of the three-hour seminar, participants will collaborate with musicians to score some of the most iconic scenes in film. 3. Silents in Concert: Families are especially encouraged to join us for this artfully curated medley of experimental short films paired with live performances by members of the International Contemporary Ensemble. 4. Sights on Sounds: CINEsound will conclude with “Sound Inventors,” a hosted presentation of short documentaries on the lives and work of post-WWII composers working to redefine sound.
