Cinemateca is a film series presented by Film Streams and the Office of Latino/Latin American Studies (OLLAS) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The celebration consists in showing Latino, Latin American, and Spanish cinema to the public. This year we will be presenting the sixth biennial Cinemateca 2018, featuring seven movies, from seven different countries. This year's Cinemateca is doing a praise to women, as all seven films are directed by women. The show will be presented every Tuesday, during seven weeks. Film Streams and OLLAS will be offering a special screening including a post-show discussion, and a selection of small appetizers prior the show. The following five films will be taking place at the Film Stream's Dundee Theater, located at 4952 Dodge Street: ZAMA, directed by Lucrecia Martel (Argentina). Tuesday August 28th, 7PM LA NOVIA, directed by Paula Ortiz (Spain). Tuesday September 4th, 7 PM. TEMPESTAD, directed by Tatiana Huerzo (Mexico). Tuesday September 11th, 7 PM. PRIMAS, directed by Laura Bari (Canada/Argentina). Tuesday September 18th, 7 PM. VAZANTE, directed by Daniela Thomas (Brazil). Tuesday September 25th, 7 PM. Additionally, the series will feature two family-friendly selections that will screen on Saturday, Sundays and Thursday's matinees. These films will screen at Film Stream's Ruth Sokolof Theater, located at 1340 Mike Fahey Street. They are the following: EL LIBRO DE LILA, directed by Marcela Rincon (Colombia/Uruguay). September 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 20th. LA ULTIMA ISLA, directed by Dacil Perez de Guzman (Spain). September 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 29th, 30th, and October 4th.
