About this event
Celtic Culture Camp is an immersive learning experience featuring Irish, Scottish and Welsh traditions. Open to students ages 9 through 12 years held during LPS spring break; Monday – Wednesday, March 12 – 14, 2018 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday & Tuesday; 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Wednesday for the Family Ceili. Set in the log cabin, barn and grounds of Roca Ridge Teaching Arts Center, 5265 Prairie Sage Dr, Roca, NE 68430. www.rocaridgeevents.com The arts connect us at a deeper level than language or intellectual understanding. Experiencing Celtic customs immersively allows participants to discover what resonates with them or to recognize particular aspects of their own traditions in a fun setting that encourages exploration. Do Irish dance with Catherine Sherer Bishop from Jackson, Mississippi. Joining her is Nancy Konrardy, teaching artist and camp host at Roca Ridge. Instruction is also provided by local multi-instrumentalist, Dave Marsh (of Paddy Whack and Ellis Island), Shelby Knott, Aaron Proett and Jimmy Shelbourn. Both Nancy and Dave are on the teaching roster for the Nebraska Arts Council. Quality crafts, music demonstrations and poetry are part of each day along with snacks and a traditional meal served at lunch. Volunteers from Lincoln Irish Dancers, St David’s Welsh Society of Nebraska and The Scottish Society of Nebraska are participating. Limited to 36 students. Reserve your child’s spot today!
