Contemporary and Vintage Quilts on Exhibit at St. Mark’s on Campus Episcopal Church “Wonderfully Made: A Celebration of Quilts and Quilting” will be on display in the parish hall at St. Mark’s on the Campus Episcopal Church, 1309 R Street in Lincoln, November 1-3. The exhibit brings together an unusual array of contemporary and vintage quilts from private collections. The public is welcome and admission is free. Quilts on display will include works by artist Connie Backus Yoder and the late Native American quilter Ethylene Wounded Shield, quilts by Wilma Daddario, quilts from organizations including Cuddle Quilts, Quilts of Valor, Fiber Works, and Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild, as well as vintage/antique quilts. The exhibit will open with an Artists Reception from 4 pm to 6 pm November 1. On November 2, the exhibit will be open 11 am to 3 pm,. The Blueberry Boys will provide live music at 11:30 am and at 1 pm Vicky Skuodas of Cuddle Quilts will offer a special talk about their organization, which creates quilts for infants in the ICU. On November 3, the exhibit will be open noon to 3 pm. Artist Connie Backus Yoder will present a free workshop on quilt block design and spirituality at 2 pm. The workshop does not require sewing skills but will tap into participants’ creativity. The show includes a Cancer Fighter Quilt Raffle to benefit the American Cancer Society. Connie Backus Yoder created the special quilt to honor all lionhearted cancer fighters. Tickets (available in advance or during the show) are $5 each or three for $10, and all proceeds will go to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2019. The winning ticket will be drawn at 1 pm on November 3. There will also be a Story Quilt display with personal quilt stories and images from members of St. Mark’s on the Campus.
