About this event
Come see some of the well-preserved cargo of the Steamboat Bertrand, which sank into the Missouri River on April 1, 1865. As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Midwest Archeological Center, this exhibit will showcase some of the objects Center staff helped preserve in the 1970s after the wreck was excavated and again in 2011 when the museum collection was threatened by Missouri River flooding. The recovered artifacts are on loan from the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge near Missouri Valley, Iowa. Visitors can see the exhibit in the lobby of the Denney Federal building from 6 AM-6 PM weekdays from July 1-19, 2019. Visitors must have a valid photo ID and pass through a security screening area. Limited visitor parking is available on the ground floor of the Federal parking garage at the corner of N Street and Centennial Mall.
