About this event
The “Origami Farm and Fields” exhibit features Linda Stephen's fine art framed landscapes made entirely of paper – 3D origami sculptures and hundreds of Japanese handmade papers (washi) in various textures, weights and patterns. Linda incorporates two Japanese paper art traditions: chigiri-e (art from ripped and layered papers) and origami (folded paper). Linda invents origami shapes – 3D paper sculptures – to celebrate the beauty of the world and each moment. This process is a combination of step-by-step planning plus invention. Some large, intricate artworks take four months to complete. Exhibit is open August 15-September 29, 2018 at Kimmel Gallery at Morton-James Public Library. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Closed Sundays and holidays. During the Apple Jack Festival, on Saturday September 22, visit the library to meet the artist and learn some fun origami (folded paper) patterns like an origami basket or box. Classes will be at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on September 22. Origami classes are free and open to the public of all ages (3+).
