The Lincoln Lancaster County Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team will present Surviving the Stigma: A Journey for Hope, at Holmes Lake Park on Saturday May 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. This event is featuring a two-mile awareness walk and fun run. The purpose is to provide support and hope to individuals that have lost someone to suicide. It is estimated that a suicide occurs approximately every 15 minutes in the United States and is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24.

The LOSS Team was formed July 1, 2009 and consists of trained volunteers that include mental health professionals and those that have lost someone to suicide. The ultimate goal of the LOSS team is to reduce suicides by getting the proper resources to those in need.
