The tour will take place Friday, April 27 from 9AM-6PM and Saturday, April 28 from 9AM-5PM. Visitors can meet the artists, see the pottery and explore two working studios at the following locations: ● 7540 Nemaha – Home studio of Amy Smith; co-host Sharon Ohmberger of Firth with guest artists Peter Scherr of Bellevue and UNL Alum Sean Scott of Battle Lake, MN. ● 2525 Winthrop Rd. – Home studio of Gail Kendall; guest artists Ervin Dixon of Beatrice and Tim Reese of Utica Art lovers can follow the black and white LINCOLN CLAY TOUR signs in these neighborhoods to the featured home studios. There is no charge to attend the tour. A broad variety of pottery in a range of styles and materials including earthenware, porcelain, and stoneware, will be available for purchase and viewing. The Lincoln Clay Tour, now in its 4th year, highlights a local and regional emphasis on the ceramic arts. "The seven potters in the Lincoln Clay Tour balance High Tech with High Touch reminding us how effectively human emotion can be expressed through handwork,” says Gail Kendall, Clay Tour participant and UNL Professor Emerita. People will have opportunities to see working home studios and talk with the artists about how and why they chose to be makers.
