About this event
JDAC Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday 9-5pm Plus Tuesdays 5-8pm Saturday 10-1pm JDAC Gallery Physical Address: 700 E 12th Street Come meet the artist! Lecture: October 13th 2:30-3:30pm Reception to follow in the JDAC until 5:00 pm Ghislaine Fremaux creates large-scale figurative drawings that simultaneously invite and challenge the viewer's notions of the nude human body. Ghislaine's work seeks to "...enable a seeing of naked bodies that is difficult, intersubjective, and ethical, and to explore the polysemy and polyvalence of nudity. I use the precarity of chalk pastel, paper, and the skin of my fingers to deliver immense, volatile accounts of being and beholding the naked body." Fremaux earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and a Master of Fine Arts degree from The Pennsylvania State University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Painting at Texas Tech University. Ghislaine's work has been widely exhibited in institutions such as the University of Illinois, Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, MANIFEST Creative Research Gallery in Cincinnati, OH, and Alexandria Museum of Art in Alexandria, LA.
