Ft. Atkinson Bicentennial Event: An Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration with a focus on the War of 1812

Beginning at 10 AM on Saturday, June 30th and Sunday July 1st, Ft. Atkinson interpreters will portray military and civilian lifestyle from the early 1800's, with a focus on 1812. This Saturday and Sunday will include a visit from Dolley Madison, Mary Pinkersgill, descendants of 1812 soldiers. 10:30 both days, there will be a special lecture from Dr. Don Hickey of Wayne State College and specialist on the War of 1812. In addition he is a Humanities Nebraska speaker. This weekend is funded in part by Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Activities will cease at 4:30 with the lowering of the flag. A Nebraska Game and Parks vehicle permit is required to be on grounds and can be purchased at the gate.
