About this event
Description:
The museum is open late June 7 for Lincoln’s First Friday Art Walk. Join us for the unveiling of a brand-new Great Plains T-shirt design featuring the region’s geologic formations. Due to popular demand, we’re also bringing back our classic bison design in a new color: navy shirt with gold ink. Shirts are pre-printed and quantities are limited. During the event, make sure to visit the Elizabeth Rubendall Artist-in-Residence Studio & Education Lab for some all-ages activities with new and old T-shirt designs! On view: Montana: Prairies to Peaks Elizabeth Rubendall Artist in Residence Erin Jones Graf Erin Jones Graf graduated from Montana State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and a separate degree in K-12 Art Education. While she is drawn to the manual labor of printmaking and the “chemistry” behind the process, her love has always been painting. The artist’s native Montana is the subject of her exhibition as the 2019 Elizabeth Rubendall Artist in Residence. She states: “I grew up on the edge of the great plains of Montana, on land that nourished four generations of my family before me…. I paint my home, and my home is expansive. From prairies to peaks, I move along the hay fields and hills, painting the grandeur that is Montana.” American West Masters This exhibition features works from the permanent collection by artists who were key players in picturing the American West. Albert Bierstadt, Ernest Berke, Karl Bodmer, Fremont Ellis, William Henry Jackson, Carl Kauba, Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell, Olaf Wieghorst, and many others will be included. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is usually available at the Que Place garage at 11th and Q streets. Visit us first as we close at 7 p.m.!
