Dwayne Wilcox: Contemporary Lakota Ledger Art June 11 – September 15, 2019 Renowned artist, Dwayne Wilcox, uses ledger paper to examine contemporary culture through a 19th century practice. Begun in the 19th century by Plains Indians in forced confinement during the Reservation Era, ledger artworks include paintings and drawings of Native American figures rendered on 19th century ledger paper. Wilcox, an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota, is a self-taught artist who has been creating work since 1984.
