“Chickens and Other Signs of Rural Life”, an exhibit featuring eight area artists, will be on display July 7-August 26 at Blue Cat Gallery & Studio in Wayne. The exhibit showcases mixed media paintings by Glenda Drennen of Sioux City, Iowa; lithograph and woodcut prints by Meghan O’Connor of Laurel, NE; wildlife photography by Roy Swoboda of Meadow Grove, NE; acrylic paintings by Vonni Sparks-Docter of Firth, NE; batiks on paper by Kristine Allphin-Brakenhoff of Hastings, NE; hand-painted linoleum prints and beaded ceramic sculpture by Carol DeVall of Lincoln, NE; mixed-media landscape paintings by Pearl Hansen of Wayne, NE; and mixed-media watercolor paintings by Carolyn Albracht of Wayne, NE. A reception for the artists is planned for Friday July 7, from 5-7pm, coinciding with the downtown activities planned for the Wayne Chicken Show. The event is free and open to the public. Blue Cat Gallery & Studio is located at 114 W. 3rd Street in Wayne. Regular gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays 10am-4pm and by appointment.
