About this event
A reception in honor of the students exhibiting in a special one-week exhibition entitled Art Made After School at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. The exhibition features select works made by middle school students in Nebraska City and Syracuse involved with Exploring the Arts After School Program through Partners for Otoe County. The student works that will be on exhibit were created throughout the 2012/13 school year in after school arts clubs facilitated by glass artist Carrie Strope, clay artist Jenni Brant, and mixed media artist Sara Martin. The student exhibition is meant to share their creative explorations with the community while also exposing students to a professional gallery space and the experience of showing in that space. The after school arts program is supported by grants from the Nebraska Arts Council, the Steinhart Foundation, and the Kropp Foundation. The exhibition closes Friday, April 26. The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is located at 801 3rd Corso in Nebraska City and is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. with special hours on Friday, April 26 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Appointments at other times are encouraged: please call ahead. Both the exhibit and the reception are free, handicapped accessible, and open to the public. For more information, call 402-874-9600 or visit
