About this event
LINCOLN CLAY TOUR EXPANDS - NEW STUDIO STOP AND THREE POTTERS ADDED 5th Annual Lincoln Clay Tour features 10 experienced potters with distinct styles at 3 locations Local clay artists Gail Kendall, Amy Smith and Margaret Bohls will welcome visitors to their home-studios in the three stops on this year’s Lincoln Clay Tour. Their work and the work of other guest potters from Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and North Carolina will be available for sale at all three locations. Art lovers can make it a four-stop tour: the event shares a weekend with the UNL Clay Club’s Spring Sale at Richards Hall on the UNL Campus. This year, the tour welcomes three additional potters: Jenni Brant a UNL Alum currently living and working in Decorah, IA; Margaret Bohls, Associate Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln; and Suze Lindsay, a studio potter from Bakerville, NC. “I see functional pots not only in terms of straightforward usefulness, but also, in their ability to invite people to take pleasure in everyday activities. Handmade pottery promotes hospitality,” says Suze. “Cooking, eating, and fostering connection are all important uses for my pots and I’m excited to share them with the Lincoln community.” Suze Lindsay is currently a Visiting Lecturer in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Ceramics Department. “We’re thrilled to see how excited the community gets about this event,” said Sharon Ohmberger, one of the original organizers, “and it’s great to see it expand so we can showcase an even broader variety of work.” The tour will take place Friday, April 26 from 9AM-6PM and Saturday, April 27 from 9AM-5PM. Visitors can meet the artists and see the work at the following locations: ● 7540 Nemaha – Home studio of Amy Smith; co-host Sharon T. Ohmberger of Firth with guest artists Peter Scherr of Bellevue and Sean Scott of Battle Lake, MN. Amy, Sharon, Peter and Sean are all University of Nebraska-Lincoln Alumni. ● 2525 Winthrop Rd. – Home studio of Gail Kendall; guest artists Ervin Dixon of Beatrice, Tim Reese of Utica, and UNL Alum Jenni Brant of Decorah, IA ● 1839 Crestline Dr. (NEW LOCATION) - Home studio of Margaret Bohls; guest artist Suze Lindsay of Bakersville, NC and current Visiting Lecturer at UNL. There is no charge to attend the tour. A broad variety of pottery in a range of styles and materials including earthenware, porcelain, and stoneware, will be available for purchase and viewing.
