Gunmen storm Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport

Five people have been killed in an attack at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport that began late Sunday night, the Associated Press reports, citing a Pakistani official.

Gunmen reportedly engaged in firefight with security forces in a terminal used for cargo and V.I.P flights.

The fighting continued into Monday morning. Airport Security Force spokesman Shaukat Jamal said the military has been called in, while police are fighting off attacker.

According to a Jinnah Hospital spokesperson, five bodies and one wounded person had been brought into the hospital.

The airport  has been closed off and flights have been diverted.

According to witnesses, there was smoke coming out of an airport terminal.

Local television stations have aired footage of what looked like a large fire at the airport.
