NET Learning Services Production Wins CINDY Award

LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 12, 2013) -- A team from NET received a Silver in the annual International Cinema in Industry CINDY competitions. The award was conferred in the category Website in Education: Guidance, Values, Career Information,” in the  CINDY Regional (North Central United States) competition.

The project, titled “Career Readiness,” is an interactive website with 11 modules to help users improve basic skills for job readiness. The career development process includes awareness, exploration, preparation, and application of those skills, culminating in life-long career management. The website is available to the public for use and will be highly promoted in high school classrooms and American Job Centers across the state.

This course was created through a collaboration among NET Learning Services, the Nebraska Department of Labor and the Nebraska Department of Education's Career Education System and Adult Basic Education to use distance-learning technologies to reach instructors and adult and youth participants.

With general direction provided by Joan Modrell at the Department of Labor, Richard Katt at the Department of Education and NET’s assistant general manager, Gary Targoff, NET Senior Web Producer Chet Kincaid headed a multi-divisional production team and worked with representatives from NDOL and NDE to ensure appropriate use of content and learning objectives.

CINDY awards are presented to those who have produced programs that achieve the high levels of excellence in production value and message effectiveness. More than 4,800 entries were judged in 160 subject matter categories of media. Programs included websites, videos, podcasts, webinars, films, commercials, documentaries and more.
