‘Ready to Work: The Impact of Career-Focused Education’ Topic of Sept. 19 ‘State of Education in Nebraska’ on NET Television

LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 4, 2013) -- By 2020 it is estimated there will be 123 million job opportunities for skilled laborers in the United States, but only 50 million people with the qualifications to fill them. On the next “State of Education in Nebraska,” airing Thursday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. CT on NET Television’s NET2 World, see how Nebraska’s public schools are helping introduce students to a world of possibilities through hands-on career education.

From culinary arts and zoology, to welding, architecture and food science, learn how real-life learning keeps students focused and engaged, while providing them with the opportunity to succeed in a career they love.

This episode is produced to air as part of NET’s “State of Education in Nebraska” series by Nebraska Loves Public Schools, an initiative funded by the Sherwood Foundation with the goal of building pride in Nebraska’s public schools.

The “State of Education in Nebraska” is a two-year initiative led by NET Learning Services and the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. A statewide transmedia effort, “State of Education in Nebraska” examines issues and connects Nebraskans to the important role that innovative school-community partnerships can have on improving student achievement.
