Pope Francis will be installed Tuesday in an inaugural Mass attended by 132 government delegations, representatives of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and other faiths, and thousands of other well-wishers and onlookers. We'll live stream the event Tuesday, starting at 3:30 a.m. ET.

The Mass, at St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, is expected to last about two hours.

Before the ceremony, Pope Francis will receive the fisherman's ring made of silver and gold that shows the image of St. Peter, and the pallium -- a lamb's wool cloak bearing five red crosses which represents the Good Shepherd who carried the lost sheep on his shoulders.

The pope will say the homily in Italian, according to a Vatican outline of events, and the live stream will have an English translation.

Vice President Joe Biden is leading the U.S. delegation attending the Mass. Accompanying him are New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and John DeGioia, president of the Jesuit-affiliated Georgetown University.

Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope, was elected by the College of Cardinals on March 13 after Pope Benedict XVI announced his retirement last month.
