High Court Takes Different Turn On Lab Tests

In cases that use lab work like DNA and fingerprints as evidence, the people who traditionally testify are the lab analysts who produced the evidence — not a supervisor or other expert. That's in accordance with the 6th Amendment's "Confrontation Clause," which gives defendants the right to confront the accused. Now the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, seems to be reconsidering when experts may testify.
