NET’s New Falls City Antenna Installation Underway

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nov. 16, 2017) – For those who watch and listen to NET in the Falls City area, installation of a new antenna is underway.

During installation of the antenna, there will be broadcast outages of television and radio. Removal of the old and installation of the new antenna is scheduled to start on approximately Monday, Nov. 27 and may last three to four days, depending on weather.

To install the new antenna, weather needs to be dry, clear and calm. A critical factor for installation is wind speed. The wind speed at the top of the 450-foot tower can only be a maximum of 20 mph for tower crews to safely complete the installation. If work has started and the weather becomes an issue, crews may not be able to continue and the time will be extended.

Once the work is finished and the new antenna is installed, viewers will be able to watch NET over-the-air on its new channel 25 (instead of channel 46). However, they will need to do a rescan of their television or set top boxes to receive NET. The channel will not change for those who watch NET through other providers. The radio frequency will remain 88.9 FM.

For the most up-to-date information, call the NET Help Desk at 800-698-3426 or email customerservice@netNebraska.org for assistance.

For those unable to receive NET television and radio during this installation period, go to netNebraska.org and select Live and On Demand from the top right corner of the home page for radio and television. The free NET Nebraska App can also be downloaded on mobile devices for live and on-demand viewing/listening.

In addition, some current episodes of NET and PBS programs can be viewed online at video.netNebraska.org. NET PBS KIDS can be live streamed at pbskids.org/video or via the PBS KIDS mobile app.

The coverage area in the new Falls City Translator K25OG-D (previously K46FG-D) includes the following counties: Nemaha, Richardson, Pawnee and Johnson.
