NET’s ‘Nebraska Concerts’ Features Holiday Music in December

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nov. 19, 2018) – In December, NET will broadcast five episodes of “Nebraska Concerts,” a weekly radio series featuring music performed and recorded in Nebraska. Several of the December concerts feature a holiday theme.

NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations, airs “Nebraska Concerts” each Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

December programs include:

Sunday, Dec. 2 – Omaha Symphony presents “Beethoven’s Seventh.” The program features Thomas Wilkins as conductor and Ilya Gringolts on violin. The music was recorded in Sept. 2016.

Sunday, Dec. 9 – With Tom Trenney and Ariel Merivil as conductors and organists, Abendmusik at First Plymouth Church presents “Savior of Nations: An Abendmusik Christmas.” The program also includes the Plymouth Choir and the Plymouth Ringers conducted by Ariel Merivel and Christopher Boilesen with the Abendmusik Festival Orchestra. Narrators are Christopher Dickson, Suzanne Jouvenat and Patrick Messer. The music was recorded in Dec. 2017.

Sunday, Dec. 16 – Dulces Voces and Lincoln Early Music Consort present “Nova! Nova!” and the Nebraska Brass presents “A Nebraska Brass Christmas.” Both concerts were recorded in Dec. 2017.

Sunday, Dec. 23 – Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra performs their annual holiday concert, “Deck The Halls,” with Tyler White as conductor. Plus, enjoy “Bell-issimo” directed by Nancy Youngman with Chase Dance and Stephanie Chase; music from Lincoln Suzuki Studios; the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition winner; Tap This! Cloggers directed by Joel Harrison; and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by David von Kampen. This “Nebraska Concert” was recorded Dec. 1, 2018.

Sunday, Dec. 30 – Conducted by Greg Zielke, the Omaha Symphonic Chorus brings listeners another “Christmas at the Cathedral” with guests Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir, American Midwest Ballet, Lincoln Boys Choir and the chamber orchestra of the Omaha Symphony. Music for this concert was recorded Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, 2018.
