NET On The Road To Minden

Community Invited to NET Events in Minden

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 19, 2017) – Area residents are invited to attend three events in Minden Saturday, April 29 as part of NET’s “On The Road” trip to south central Nebraska.

The day’s activities begin with a Town Talk at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Village where NET leadership will welcome area residents for coffee and an informal discussion to learn more about the Minden community.

A live taping of the “Backyard Farmer” program will follow at 3 p.m. at Pioneer Village and feature experts answering viewer questions about lawn and garden issues. The longest-running, locally-produced television series in the nation, “Backyard Farmer” is celebrating its 65th season and airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. on NET through Sept. 14. The Minden episode of “Backyard Farmer” will air statewide on NET May 4.  Kim Todd, Nebraska Extension landscape horticulture specialist, is the show’s host with other Nebraska Extension experts joining the panel. Those attending will get to experience being part of a television audience and see what goes into producing this popular show.

NET’s PBS KIDS family event will follow at 6 p.m. at the Minden Opera House.  Katerina Kittycat from “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” will be on hand to greet kids and their families and those attending can stay to watch the new movie “Tiger Family Trip.”

The Minden community is also invited to be part of a live radio audience at 9 a.m. Friday, April 28 when NET’s arts and entertainment program “Friday LIVE” broadcasts from Hastings College. This weekly show includes interviews and live performances and will showcase local talent including the Hastings College Handbell Choir and the three-piece band Little Bluestem. The show will be held in Perkins Auditorium in Fuhr Hall.
