March 31 ‘Friday LIVE’ Features Concordia Vocal Jazz Choir, Big Brass Quintet

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 16, 2017) – NET’s “Friday LIVE” arts and entertainment radio show will feature special performances from Concordia University Nebraska’s Vocal Jazz Choir, the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass quintet and more when it airs at 9 a.m., Friday, March 31, live from the Ron Hull Studio at NET, 1800 N. 33rd St., in Lincoln.

Host Genevieve Randall will give audience members the latest about music, arts, literature and events happening around the state. Daniel Simon, editor of “Nebraska Poetry: A Sesquicentennial Anthology, 1867-2017,” will be on the show to discuss the book’s statewide launch, and director Melinda Janko will discuss her film, “100 Years: One Woman’s Fight for Justice,” showing at the Mary Riempa Ross Media Arts Center.

Pianist Ann Chang, artistic director at Lied Center for Performing Arts, will perform and discuss the season’s new classical line-up.

The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass quintet will talk about their part in the Arts for the Soul series.

Kurt von Kampen from Concordia will talk about the Vocal Jazz Choir’s upcoming performances in Seward and 

Lincoln. The 13-voice select ensemble performs standard jazz and pop-influenced choral music and is comprised of mostly music majors.

The public is invited to this free event with complimentary refreshments at 8:30 a.m. in the Ron Hull Studio.
