Heavican on Premiere Episode of NET’s ‘Speaking of Nebraska’

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 10, 2019) – Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Heavican sits down with NET News Director Dennis Kellogg in the premiere episode of “Speaking of Nebraska,” airing at 8:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, April 18 on NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations.

Heavican has served as the chief justice 13 years. During the interview, he offers his thoughts on a variety of issues related to the state courts, including the success of new problem-solving courts such as drug courts which offer demanding programs for offenders, but allow them to avoid prison.

While addressing issues currently facing our judicial system and other challenges the system will encounter in the future, Heavican also speaks about funding for the judicial branch and his own future on the bench. 

“Speaking of Nebraska” will air on television Thursday nights on NET. On April 18 and 25, it will air at 8:30 p.m. CT, following “Nebraska Stories.” Beginning May 2 and continuing through June 6, it will air at 8 p.m. CT on NET. The series will also air on radio every Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT, beginning April 19, followed by “Fresh Air.”
