‘Great Performances’ Features Broadway’s Best, Award-Winning Music in November

LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 22, 2018) – November brings some of Broadway’s brightest stars and award-winning performers to the stage when “Great Performances” airs Friday nights on NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations.

This month’s lineup includes the beloved musicals “An American in Paris The Musical,” "The Sound of Music,” as well as a documentary about the making of John Leguizamo’s Tony-nominated play “Latin History for Morons.” The musical that launched Lin-Manuel Miranda’s stardom, “In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams,” also makes November’s lineup, while Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti and superstar singer Michael Bublé wrap up the month.“Great Performances: An American in Paris The Musical”“Great Performances: An American in Paris The Musical”

“Great Performances: An American in Paris The Musical” airs at 8 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 2 on NET. The thrilling new stage adaptation of the film came to Broadway in 2015 and earned four Tony Awards. The Broadway production makes its PBS debut with its original stars, Tony nominees Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope. 

“Great Performances: The Sound of Music” airs at 8 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 9 on NET. Beloved by generations of audiences worldwide, “The Sound of Music” tells the inspiring true story of the von Trapp Family Singers and their escape from Austria during the rise of Nazism.

“Great Performances: John Leguizamo’s Road to Broadway” airs at 8 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 16 on NET. Leguizamo began his career as a stand-up comic in the early 1980s, but theater allowed him to fully display his quicksilver comic brilliance and insightful social consciousness. This episode of “Great Performances” presents a behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling his latest theatrical showcase, “Latin History for Morons.”

“Great Performances: In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams” follows at 9 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 16 on NET. Follow a group of talented young creators led by composer-lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda as they produce an original musical -- a Latin and hip-hop-infused odyssey telling the story of a neighborhood and the first-generation Americans who call it home.

“Great Performances: The Chris Botti Band in Concert” airs at 9 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 23, on NET. Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti performs with vocalists Sy Smith and Veronica Swift, violinist Caroline Campbell and more. Equally, at home in all musical genres, Botti performs “The Look of Love,” “Cinema Paradiso” and “When I Fall in Love.”

“Great Performances: Michael Bublé: Tour Stop 148” will round out November when it airs at 9 p.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 30 on NET. Experience Bublé’s visually thrilling and musically triumphant “To Be Loved Tour” featuring performances of his biggest hits including “Home” and “Haven’t Met You Yet,” along with exclusive footage of the group’s travels.
