A ‘Friday LIVE’ First from Minden Opera House

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 2, 2018) – The “Friday LIVE” arts and entertainment radio show will broadcast statewide live for the first time from the Minden Opera House at 9 a.m., Friday, March 16 on NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations. Those in the area are invited to be part of the live radio audience as this event is free and includes refreshments beginning at 8:30 a.m. at 322 E. Fifth St. in Minden.

Live performances will showcase local talent including singer and songwriter Cindy Boehler of Alma, the Hastings band Gracie’s Uncles as well as the popular Austrian cross-over chamber group Janoska Ensemble who will also be performing at The Tassel in Holdrege that evening.

“These performers are amazing and we’re in for a special morning with this classically-trained chamber quartet which blends in tango and other popular music, Cindy’s original country tunes and the folk-rock-bluegrass music of Gracie’s Uncles,” said host Genevieve Randall of NET.

Randall will also interview several individuals from local arts organizations to spotlight the many great arts and performance events happening in the area. Featured interviews will include Minden Opera House Executive Director Marcy Brandt who will preview upcoming events including the Minden Community Players production of “Mary Poppins” and Todd Rundstrom who will discuss his photography exhibition in the gallery.

Steve Lewis of Kearney Concert Association will be on hand to preview pianist Roy Tan and violinist Rosemary Siemens who will be performing with the Platte River Children’s Chorale in Kearney March 16. The Merryman Performing Arts Center’s Denise Christensen will also preview upcoming events including “Let It Be,” a celebration of the music of The Beatles.

Amy Sandeen, director for Prairie Loft in Hastings, will also share news about upcoming outdoor learning activities including the Family Outdoor Club and Women, Wine and Wilderness programs. Tracy Tucker of The Willa Cather Foundation will also share news about their celebration of 100 years of the novel “My Antonia.”

“We’ve been wanting to come to the Minden Opera House for so long and this is the perfect opportunity with this impressive culmination of events around Minden,” Randall added.
