Feb. 24 ‘Friday LIVE’ Features Gabriel Kahane, Lincoln Choral Artists

LINCOLN, Neb. (Feb. 10, 2017) – NET’s “Friday LIVE” arts and entertainment radio show will feature special performances from composer/singer/songwriter Gabriel Kahane, the Lincoln Choral Artists adult community choir and more when it airs at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24, live from Lincoln’s Johnny Carson Theater at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 12th and R streets. Gabriel Kahane Photo Credit Jacob Blickenstaff

Host Genevieve Randall will give audience members the latest about music, arts, literature and events happening around the state. Writers, producers and cast from “Sitting Bull’s Last Waltz,” a show first produced in Los Angeles and now being produced here in Nebraska by John Schliesser, will discuss the post-punk rock musical about Sitting Bull’s final years at Standing Rock.

Jeannette Jones, associate professor of history and ethnic studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will talk about the upcoming Humanities on the Edge series, while the Nebraska Chapter of the Partners of the Americas will talk about its Brazilian Carnaval in Lincoln. There also will be a segment on the show about paintings by artist Todd A. Williams that will begin touring the state in celebration of its 150th birthday.

The public is invited to this free event with complimentary refreshments at 8:30 a.m. in the Johnny Carson Theater.
