‘Backyard Farmer’ Fans Invited to Bayside Golf Course on June 3

LINCOLN, Neb. (May 20, 2019) – “Backyard Farmer” fans are invited to Bayside Golf Course along the shores of Lake McConaughy near Brule, Neb., on Monday, June 3, for a live taping of the show. The event concludes a week-long series of “On the Road” events planned by NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations.

A question and answer session with the “Backyard Farmer” lawn and garden experts begins at 5:15 p.m. MT, and guests staying to be part of the television audience for the show must be seated by 5:45 p.m. MT. The live taping begins at 6 p.m. MT. The event is free and open to the public.

The “Backyard Farmer” episode taped at Bayside Golf Course will air Thursday, June 6 at 7 p.m. CT on NET.

Every year from spring to fall, host Kim Todd, Nebraska Extension landscape horticulture specialist, and a panel of Nebraska Extension experts help viewers answer questions about insect pests and disease, turf, and fruits and vegetables, as well as landscape design and general horticulture topics.

The “Backyard Farmer” website (byf.unl.edu) features more about the series and the Facebook page feature announcements and other garden information. In addition, past features and episodes are available for viewing on the program’s YouTube channel and as a free podcast on iTunes. 

The longest-running, locally-produced television series in the nation, “Backyard Farmer” airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. CT on NET through Sept. 12. The series repeats Saturdays at 10 a.m. CT on NET and Sundays at 3 p.m. CT and Mondays at 5 p.m. CT on NET Create.

“Backyard Farmer” is co-production of NET and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension.
