Solomon Butcher: Frontier Photographer

Solomon Butcher began life in Nebraska as a homesteader and by his own admission, it didn't suit him. But he did enjoy photography, a trade he learned prior to settling on the Custer County prairie. And so, in his small sod studio, Butcher began creating a one-of-a-kind photographic record of 19th Century prairie settlement.
