Now What?: Dee Eagleton Interview Excerpts
December 12, 2013
Dee Eagleton knew something was wrong with her mother, Alyce, beyond the memory loss that is generally attributed to aging. In addition to forgetfulness, Alyce exhibited personality and behavioral changes, and she was increasingly unable to manage living by herself. After seven years of trying to identify what the problem was, the diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) was finally reached. FTD is one of the most difficult types of dementia to diagnose. And because of the range of behaviors and personality changes that accompany FTD, it can be a challenge to find the best combination of medication and long term care facilities for those who have FTD. Through these interview excerpts, Dee shares her caregiving journey, as well as lessons learned that will help other who find themselves on the same path.
