Time magazine has touted Andrew Bacevich, a noted historian, as "one of the most provocative - as in thought-provoking - national security writers out there today."
Bacevich argues that all political, military and economic crises that face America today are deeply interconnected. Reaching across political lines, Bacevich is credited with speaking truth to power in order to help steer the country back on course.
Currently, Bacevich is professor of international relations and history at Boston University. He has also taught at Johns Hopkins University and West Point.
A veteran himself, having served during the Vietnam War, Bacevich has penned several books that offer blistering critiques of the U.S. military, its leaders and its policies
Derek Chollet was confirmed as the Obama Administration's Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs in June 2012. In this role, he advises on international security strategy and policy issues related to the nations and international organizations of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to this appointment, Chollet worked as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Strategic Planning on the National Security Council staff. He was chosen as a member of the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team following the historic 2008 election.
Also an author, Chollet has written six books on American foreign policy, including "The Road to Dayton Accords: A Study of American Statecraft" and "America Between the Wars: 11/9 to 9/11, " which examines America during a time of peace following the end of the Cold War before that peace was shattered by the events of September 11.
