On June 14th, William Stibor, John Bailey, and composer Jonathan Bingham preview the NEBRASKA CHAMBER MUSIC INSTITUTE at the UNL School of Music in Lincoln. Papillion (June 19-23) & Grand Island (June 26-30) host the 2013 Humanities Nebraska Chautauqua, FREE LAND? 1862 AND THE SHAPING OF MODERN AMERICA. Each evening, humorist Mark Twain (Warren Brown) moderates one of five presentations of these historical figures: Union General and railroad builder Grenville Dodge, author Willa Cather, Ponca Chief Standing Bear, inventor George Washington Carver, and homesteader and author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Nebraska Shakespeare readies its annual SHAKESPEARE ON THE GREEN performances in Omaha, we’ll have a preview. It’s time to vote for this year’s ONE BOOK ONE LINCOLN. Friday Live previews the three finalists. The Lincoln Arts Council’s COMMUNITY SUPPORTED ART project is a unique way of growing arts patrons by offering “shares” for locally produced artwork. As the first of three “harvests” are ready to be sent to those shareholders, Friday Live chats about the success of the program.
All that, a Ross film review, and statewide arts calendar.
