State of Education in Nebraska: Out-of-School Time & STEM, Episode 102
February 11, 2013
In Nebraska and across the nation, there is a growing recognition of the important role that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, frequently referred to as the STEM fields, will play in helping our young people succeed in today’s globally connected, highly competitive economy. There is also a growing recognition that there simply is not enough time during the traditional school day and year to provide young people with the hands on, engaging learning experiences they need to master these important STEM concepts.
That is why programs providing expanded STEM learning opportunities for Nebraska youth are so important to the future of our state’s youth and in the long run to our economic vitality. Tonight’s program, the first in NET’s two-year series of programs exploring The State of Education in Nebraska, we are going to delve into the intersection of out of school time programs and STEM initiatives.
