From 1997. This special, narrated by Dick Cavett, presents insight on the creation of public art by following the creation, engineering, fabrication, installation and dedication of a monumental outdoor sculpture by the contemporary artist team, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. Viewers are taken behind the scenes with the artists, the staff of the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, landscape architects and engineers as they transform an artist's model into over 16,000 pounds of aluminum and stainless steel.
