GUARDING BOSNIA

 PERSPECTIVE

The bloodiest war in Europe since World War II claimed the lives of 250,000 Bosnians from 1992 to 1995. Many more were raped, tortured and driven from their homes. Now Nebraska soldiers are part of a NATO-sponsored international force (called Stabilization Force, or S-FOR for short) working to keep peace in this former Yugoslav republic. "Statewide’s" Mike Tobias was part of a small delegation of Nebraskans who visited Bosnia June 3-7, 2003, for an inside look at the peacekeeping mission and the work of Nebraska Army National Guard soldiers.
