The
1941 Rose Bowl Parade
In 1940,
the University of Nebraska finally had a good football team, and the
civilian-led Cornhusker Marching Band was invited to march in the Rose
Bowl Parade on January 1, 1941. It was unusual at the time for a band
to be invited, let alone raise the money needed to make the trip. But
they did, and the parade remains a favorite memory of band members at
the time. We have more about the trip in the "Tradition" section.
