UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble

NET Television taped a jazz music special featuring the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble. The program is a collaborative effort between the UNL School of Music and NET Television, and it features some of Nebraska's top jazz musicians. The performance was taped in an intimate cabaret-style setting in front of a live studio audience at NET using high-definition cameras. The group performed a range of jazz music, from traditional swing charts and standards to more comtemporary jazz music.

The musicians in the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble are led by acclaimed saxophonist and UNL music professor Paul Haar. The septet also boasts other regionally and nationally known musicians: Darryl White, trumpet; Eric Richards, trombone; Peter Bouffard, guitar; Rusty White, double bass; Tom Larson, piano; and Steve Helfand, a drummer from Omaha. Also joining the group on several songs is UNL graduate student and alto saxophonist Brandon Holloman, who is pursuing his doctorate of musical arts degree.

The program was a result of a collaboration between NET and the UNL School of Music.
