When Magic Slim moved his family from the southside of Chicago to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1994, he had no idea the effect the move would have on his youngest son Shawn (Lil' Slim). Magic had moved his family because of increasing gang activity in his neighborhood and the pressure those gangs were putting on Shawn. But there was no way Slim could have known that moving his family from a city known for it's urban blues scene to a small city in Nebraska known more for it's football team and corn production, would cause his youngest son, who had shown no interest in blues while living in Chicago, to become fully entrenched in his father's music. But that's what happened. The band plays traditional Chicago blues but they play with the passion and possession of the twenty-something "Generation X-ers" they are. The band is connected with the music on a gut level that the audience can feel with every note. When you hear Shawn "Lil' Slim" play the blues with his Back-Alley Blues Band, you will experience something remarkable. To view their discography click here.
