David CampbellDavid Campbell
One of the most exciting young performers in years

Australian-born David Campbell has been portrayed as one of the most exciting young performers in years with the popular belief that he is only at the beginning of a monumental career. He is the son of Australian rock star, Jimmy Barnes, but David has quickly accumulated his own remarkable list of credits.

David was born in Adelaide on the 6th of August, 1973. He began working professionally in Australia in 1993 after extensive training and performance work with the South Australian Youth Theatre Company and the Highlands Youth Theatre Company. David made his first major splash in Sydney by creating the role of Clay in the hit Australian play "Relative Merits" first at the Stables Theatre, then on a national tour.

Late 1996, David traveled to New York to perform in the New York Cabaret Convention which led to a series of performances at the cabaret venue Eighty Eights. The success of these performances led to much critical American attention for David, with Time Out magazine hailing him as "the most important vocal performer to hit the scene since Streisand thirty years ago".

David's Australian tour in the winter of 1997 was a complete sell-out. His U.S. appearances have included cities such as Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He appeared numerous times on television in Australia. David has also made other television appearances including PBS's "The Charlie Rose Show" and appeared on the WNET (N.Y.'s PBS television station) special "Cabaret Thirteen". He also did a three-week engagement at New York's premier nightspot, Rainbow and Stars, where he was the youngest performer ever to headline.
