Nebraska Regionalists

The 1930s and ‘40s Regionalist Movement, led by Thomas Hart Benton (Missouri), Grant Wood (Iowa), and John Steuart Curry (Kansas), included a handful of Nebraska artists. Primarily chosen from the MONA collection, this exhibition highlights the work of Benton as well as that of Dale Nichols, Kady Faulkner, Aaron Gunn Pyle, among others who took their turn at the colorful, lyrical, everyday scenes found in Regionalism.

TRANSCRIPTIONS, opening Friday, July 13 6-9pm, will feature work by Cindy Rehm (Los Angeles, CA) and Sheila Talbitzer (Omaha, NE) and will be on view through September 1st. Rehm and Talbitzer both utilize different forms of transcription in their work. Talbitzer eploys the documentation of patient medical records whereas Rehm often deciphers feminist critical theory.

The Hastings College Jackson Dinsdale Art Center (JDAC) opens its second summer exhibition with “Sign Posts: Searching for the Spirit,” a joint show from Hastings College alumni and father and son Jeremy Daniels and Mark Daniels.
The show opens July 11, with a reception and talk set for Sunday, July 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the JDAC. Regular summer gallery hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Tower Jazz is a free summer music series that celebrates jazz music at Tower Square (13th and P). In its fourth year, the outdoor concerts will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM and will focus on established as well as up-and-coming local talent.
