NET Launches A Virtual Tour of the Nebraska State Capitol

Beginning with the pioneers who settled our state and their children, Nebraska State Capitol architect Bertram Goodhue gave Nebraska citizens a monument to show the world the spirit of Nebraska and inspire future generations.

And, now school children and visitors, both here in Nebraska and around the world, can see the elegant doors of the Warner Chamber, the amazing view looking up from the rotunda and the Sower standing majestically on the dome – without ever setting foot in the building.

Produced by NET’s Interactive and Educational Media group and support for fundraising from Sally Ganem the Former First Lady of Nebraska A Virtual Tour of the Nebraska State Capitol is accessible online and via mobile tablet devices, providing instant access to the building that serves as the heart of our government and an architectural treasure of history. Visitors to the site can also get an online view of the Governor’s Mansion.

The virtual tour primarily targets K-12 students and their teachers who cannot visit the capitol due to distance or cost. In addition, the tour appeals to those interested in the building’s architecture, as well as people born in Nebraska, but living elsewhere.

The virtual tour curriculum website with lesson plans will officially launch in March 2017, to coincide with Nebraska’s sesquicentennial celebration. But, can take the full 360o interactive and informational tour now at:
