General Membership Questions

Is my contribution to NET tax deductible?
Contributions to the NET Foundations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The relevant law states “to the extent that tangible personal benefits are not received in return.” This means that if you receive a thank you gift for your contribution, you cannot claim the fair market value of the thank you gift for tax purposes. Your allowable deduction would be the amount of your contribution minus the fair market value of your thank you gift. If you have further questions concerning the tax deductibility of any of your contributions, please consult your tax advisor. Why is there a single membership for NET instead of separate memberships for Television and Radio?
NET operates as one organization. By having a single membership, communications are streamlined, efficiency increases, and administrative costs lessen. This means that even more of your contributions to NET will go to support our mission to enrich lives and engage minds by connecting communities and celebrating Nebraska with services that educate and enlighten.

Will my donation support Television or Radio?
All donations made to NET will support Television and Radio. However, there continues to be two separate 501(c)(3) organizations - NET Foundation for Television (Federal ID #23-7122088) and NET Foundation for Radio (Federal ID #47-0588533). Donations will be split with 75% to the NET Foundation for Television and 25% to the NET Foundation for Radio. The Foundations need to maintain individual financial identities in order to continue receiving the Federal funding match.

Why is there this 75% / 25% split of donations?
Currently support from our members approximates the 75% / 25% split, which mirrors the national Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) split between Television and Radio of 75% / 25%. Based on a 10 year financial analysis of both Television and Radio, this split maintains the current level of support for Television and Radio. 

How will I know when to renew my membership?
NET will send renewal reminders beginning about three months before your membership lapses. Consider becoming an NET Sustaining Star to contribute monthly ongoing support to ensure your membership never lapses while supporting the programs you enjoy on NET.

Does NET or the NET Foundations sell or exchange my name with other non-profit organizations?
It is our strict policy not to release or exchange any information about our members. NET will not sell, rent, share, or give its membership donor list to any outside organization or individual.

What are my rights as a donor?
NET adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals' (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights

How can I be removed from the mailing list?
Please know that NET will not sell, share, or exchange its mailing list. However, if you'd like to be removed, please contact us at 800.634.6788.

I'm receiving duplicate mailings. What should I do?
Please let us know by contacting 800.634.6788, and we'll make sure you only receive one of each mailing.

I am moving; how do I change my address to continue receiving INSIDE NET and other important membership information?
Please contact us at 800.634.6788, and we'll change your address in our member database to ensure that you continue to receive.

 

Member Benefit Questions

What are the benefits of being a member of NET?
Members of NET help provide the financial support needed to deliver quality television and radio programming across the state. 

INSIDE NET - Members who donate $36/year or more receive NET's monthly magazine featuring prime time program listings, upcoming events, donor profiles and more. 

NET Passport - Members who donate $60/year ($5/month) or more receive access to NET Passport, which is extended on demand access to over a thousand hours of PBS and NET shows. 

NET MemberCard - Members who donate $80/year ($7/month) or more receive the NET MemberCard, which gives you access to hundreds of 2-for-1 deals at participating Nebraska restaurants, lodging, museums, pet stores, online merchants and more!

When will I receive my thank you gift?
It usually takes between four and six weeks for us to send out our thank you gifts.  If your thank you gift was tickets, they will typically arrive about a month before the scheduled event.

How do I access the MemberCard mobile app?
You can access the MemberCard app for either iPhone or Android devices by searching "MemberCard" in the Apple App Store or on Google Play. To activate your benefits on the app, create a free account and enter the activation code embossed on the front of your MemberCard. 

I lost my NET MemberCard Directory. How can I request a new one or find a list of the restaurants and other entertainment venues that are affiliated with it?
